Strength Grows
II have doubted myself many times, but each time I was wrong. When a situation arises that pushes me to the edge of what I thought were my capabilities, I am amazed at how I am able to rise up and defeat the adversary, sometimes with ease. It’s hard when you’re hit with emotional stress from a new illness or a mental attack, but your body is built for combat. We have spleens that carry a reserve of blood and nutrients. This reserve is never used unless the body loses a great amount of blood. On dialysis, I would lose a great amount of blood from my body as it was drawn into the machine, but during this time, not once did my spleen release any of its stored blood. Why? Because I had not reached the point of emergency. This is what you must remember. Just because something knocks you down doesn’t mean you’re defeated. Get back up, brush yourself off, reevaluate, reengage, and kick some butt.
