Coffee Shop

While living in Italy, I would go to the local cafe during my break to get an espresso macchiato. I was in an unnecessary hurry and said,”I would like a coffee to go.” The barista looked at me and said, “What?!” I reconsidered what I said, thinking I had said it incorrectly because I was speaking Italian. I repeated it, and he said to me, Billy—everyone called me Billy in Italy because William was hard to pronounce. He asked, “What is so important that you can’t take five minutes to sit down and drink your coffee?” I reluctantly took the coffee, sat down, and within five minutes, I was up and gone. The next day, I did the same thing. By the end of the month, I would come in, say hi to everybody, pat someone on the back, sit down, drink my coffee, and rejuvenate myself with my new friends.

In just one second, your life could be turned upside down. One medical event could cost you everything. The more you give, the more He gives to you. It doesn’t take much to make someone’s day. Paying for a cup of coffee or taking five minutes to talk to an older adult could benefit both an older person and you. When you die, we all change into the same color—dirt.
