While living in Italy, I walked into a cafe with my trainer and a pro bodybuilder. I had not yet won my pro card. To receive it one must beat everyone in the show. This was a difficult task. While walking into the cafe the other bodybuilder told all he was a pro. I asked my trainer how was he a pro and not I? I felt I was way better than he was. He told me that he entered a federation that was not of good quality physiques. This is how he got his card. I asked, ”Why can’t I compete in that organization? I could then get my pro card the easy way.” He said to me. “When we entered the cafe he told everyone he was a pro, however, you said nothing and they all flocked to you asking for a photo and autograph Why? Because they assumed you were a professional by your physique. So I say to you, I would rather you come in last place against people who are good. Than first against people who are mediocre.”
There was a commercial for the candy Mementos. There was a large girl sitting on a beach. She was looking around at all the fit people and feeling low. The mementos said have one and make a wish. She closed her eyes, placed a mint in her mouth and made a wish. When she opened her eyes she was disappointed. Her body was still fat. However, when she looked around at the fit people on the beach, they were all larger than she! The next clip was of her running down the beach, still large and hair braided like Bo Derek. She was feeling good. Not because she lost weight, but because everyone was now larger than her.
Stop comparing yourself against the lower denomination. If you believe in yourself then fight against the best.
