I train people from all walks of life. Some are senior citizens, young people who are hoping to be professionals in their sport, with disabilities, professional players, actors, and musicians.
One of my clients was entering when they passed by an actor leaving. They ran in asking me, “Was that……..?” I responded, yes. They asked, “Why do they come to Maine to train with you?” I commented, “Because I’m so cheap.” I charge about half the price of some competitors. One of those competitors is Planet Fitness. After a bit, I revealed to them I was only joking. They asked again and I responded, “Because I care.” They didn’t understand and I gave them this parable. The Belgian horse is bigger than Clydesdales and typically weighs up to 2,200 pounds. They are world record holders in numerous categories.
Belgians can be ridden, and some are first-rate trail riding horses; they have a “calm temperament” and are “willing workers”.
A single Belgian horse can pull 7000 lbs. Two together can pull 15000 pounds. However, if they are trained together, they can pull 25000 lbs! So it is with partnering with a trainer who cares. If you work together in a positive light, what you could normally do on your own can be almost doubled. The trainer can work with you to bring out the hidden 6000 pounds of extra strength you didn’t realize you had. The same can be with a teacher, a spouse, or a doctor. You must first be willing to work like a Belgian horse, having the right temperament and “willingness” to do the work. With the help of someone knowledgeable, who cares, and is willing to work with “your best”, you can gain so much more.
