A Salute To My Doctors

The were once three girls who were on a talk show complaining about their Olympic coach. How he would constantly correct them, push them when they were tired, and call them fat. They wanted to complain about him on national television. They then brought another three girls who trained under the same coach. They asked them to corroborate their stories and they said it didn’t happen. They explained the coach did not call them fat, but let them know when they got too heavy because it would be difficult for them to do the moves.

They explained the other three girls would always sneak and eat junk. They also said yes, he did push them, but this is what you need to do to be an Olympian. That nothing less than 100 percent would be accepted. They revealed the other three girls would not try as hard as they did. Therefore they did not make it to qualify for the Olympics, but the three who listened to the coach all medaled. This changed their lives in many ways.

When asked how they felt about the coach, they replied, “He is the best coach ever! Without him, we would have never reached our fullest potential.”

I have for the past three months listened to complainers who when presented with a solution would not do it. This can and did drain me mentally. So much so, I did not want to train myself. From phone calls into the late hours from people who are going through a sickness like me. I try to help, but they don’t listen and only complain. I now understand how my doctors must feel when they give their sacred time, and family to give to those who don’t appreciate them or respect what advice they offer. They rather listen to someone who tells them what they want to hear and then sell them the magic formula.

So today I will release myself from the weighted chains of negativity and concentrate on those who want it and will be a beacon of light to others. To my medical staff, thank you for what you do. Without you, I would not be what I am today. You are appreciated and we owe our lives to you. If I ever complained or did not take responsibility, I apologize.

    Excuses

I listen to excuses all day—ALL DAY—and yet, I rarely see anyone seeking a resolution. When we offer solutions, they often dismiss our suggestions as if we don’t know what we’re talking about.
